Quick devotion: March 6, 2021

Quick devotion: March 6, 2021 Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses. Why did they do it? They criticized their brother because Moses' wife was not an Israelite. Scripture Reading - Numbers 12 Miriam and Aaron began to speak out against Moses. . . . - Numbers 12:

Moses had grown up in the king's palace in Egypt, but had escaped and lived in Midian for many years before God called him to lead his people out of Egypt. And in Midian, Moses had married the daughter of a shepherd of sheep who had taken him into his home (see Exodus 2-3).

But there was more. Aaron and Miriam seemed jealous that God had chosen Moses to be the chief speaker of God's will and his law to the people.

What excruciating pain Moses must have felt in his heart when his family members criticized him. It must have been heartbreaking. But Moses did not speak. He remained humble, despite the accusations. And God took care of the matter.

Quick Devotion: March 6, 2021 There may come a time when we are criticized and treated unfairly. What should we do then? We need to look to God, endure and know that God will take care of things. God will justly treat people who do evil. God will make things right.

Just like Moses prayed for the people who had hurt, just like Jesus prayed for them who crucified him, we too can pray for the people who mistreat us.

Prayer: Loving God, even when our friends and family mistreat us or even persecute us, help us to persevere and wait for you to set things right. In the name of Jesus, Amen
