Quick Daily Devotion: February 25, 2021

Quick Daily Devotion, February 25, 2021: The widow in this parable has been called many things: annoying, annoying, annoying, annoying, annoying. Yet Jesus applauds her for being persistent. Her relentless pursuit of justice eventually convinces the judge to help her, even if he doesn't really care about her.

Scripture reading - Luke 18: 1-8 Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. - Luke 18: 1 Of course, Jesus is not suggesting that God is like the judge in this story, or that we will have to be irritating to get God's attention. Indeed, as Jesus points out, God is the opposite of the indifferent and unjust judge.

Pray to Jesus with this prayer full of graces

Quick Daily Devotion, February 25, 2021: Persistence in prayer, however, raises an important question about prayer itself. God reigns over the cosmos and pays attention to every detail, including the hair on our heads (Matthew 10:30). So why should we pray? God knows all our needs and his goals and plans are established. Can we really, then, change God's mind for a different result?

There is no easy answer to this question, but we can say several things that the Bible teaches. Yes, God reigns and we can take great comfort from him. Furthermore, God can use our prayers as a means to his ends. As James 5:16 says: "A righteous person's prayer is powerful and effective."

Our prayers bring us into fellowship with God and align us with his will, and play a role in bringing God's righteous and righteous kingdom to earth. So let us be persistent in prayer, trusting and believing that God listens and answers.

Prayer to say every day: Father, help us pray and keep praying for your kingdom, trusting you in everything. Amen.
