Reflect today that God will answer you when it is best for you

Jesus taught in a synagogue on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who had been paralyzed by a spirit for eighteen years; she was bent over, completely unable to stand upright. When Jesus saw her, he called her and said, "Woman, you are delivered from your infirmity." He laid his hands on her and she immediately stood up and glorified God. Luke 13: 10-13

Each miracle of Jesus is certainly an act of love towards the healed person. In this story, this woman has suffered for eighteen years and Jesus shows his compassion by healing her. And while it's a clear act of love for her directly, there's so much more to the story as a lesson for us.

A message we can draw from this story comes from the fact that Jesus heals on his own initiative. Although some miracles are performed at the request and prayer of the one who has been healed, this miracle happens simply through the goodness of Jesus and His compassion. This woman was apparently not seeking healing, but when Jesus saw her, his heart turned to her and healed her.

So he is with us, Jesus knows what we need before we ask him. Our duty is to always remain faithful to Him and to know that in our faithfulness He will give us what we need even before we ask for it.

A second message comes from the fact that this woman "stood up" once she was healed. This is a symbolic image of what grace does to us. When God comes into our life, we are able to stand, so to speak. We are able to walk with a new confidence and dignity. We discover who we are and live freely in his grace.

Reflect on these two facts today. God knows your every need and will respond to those needs when it is best for you. Also, when he grants you his grace, it will allow you to live in full confidence like his son or daughter.

Lord, I surrender to You and trust in Your abundant mercy. I trust that you will allow me to walk your ways every day of my life with full confidence. Jesus I believe in you.
