Think, today, if you feel like you need to allow Jesus to "cultivate the soil" around you

“'For three years I have been looking for fruit on this fig, but I have not found any. So take it down. Why should it run out of soil? He said to him in response: “Lord, leave it for this year as well, and I will cultivate the soil around it and fertilize it; it could bear fruit in the future. Otherwise you can take it down '”. Luke 13: 7-9

This is an image that reflects our soul many times over. Often in life we can fall into a rut and our relationship with God and others is in trouble. As a result, our lives bear little or no good fruit.

Maybe this isn't you at the moment, but maybe it is. Maybe your life is deeply rooted in Christ or maybe you are struggling a lot. If you are struggling, try to see yourself as this cool. And try to see the person who undertakes to "cultivate the land around and fertilize it" as Jesus himself.

It is important to note that Jesus does not look at this fig and does not cast it as useless. He is a God of second chances and is committed to taking care of this fig tree in such a way as to offer it every opportunity necessary to bear fruit. So it is with us. Jesus never throws us away, no matter how far we have strayed. He is always ready and willing to get in touch with us in the ways we need so that our lives can once again bear much fruit.

Reflect today if you feel like you need to allow Jesus to "cultivate the soil" around you. Don't be afraid to let Him provide you with the nourishment you need to once again bring abundance of good fruit into your life.

Lord, I know I always need your love and care in my life. I need to be nurtured by you in order to bear the fruit you want from me. Help me be open to the ways you wish to nurture my soul so that I can accomplish whatever you have in mind for me. Jesus I believe in you.
