Reflect today on how deeply you know Jesus

There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I don't think the whole world would contain the books that would have been written. John 21:25

Imagine the intuitions that our Blessed Mother would have had on her Son. She, like her mother, would have seen and understood many hidden moments in her life. He would see it grow year after year. He would see him relate and interact with others throughout his life. He would have noticed that he was preparing for his public ministry. And he would have witnessed many hidden moments of that public ministry and countless sacred moments of his whole life.

This Scripture above is the last sentence of John's Gospel and it is a phrase that we don't hear very often. But it offers some fascinating insights to think about. All that we know of the life of Christ is contained in the Gospels, but how could these short Gospel books come close to describing the totality of who Jesus is? They certainly can't. To do this, as Giovanni says above, the pages could not be contained all over the world. This says a lot.

So a first intuition that we should draw from this Scripture is that we know only a small part of the real life of Christ. What we know is glorious. But we should realize that there is much more. And this realization should fill our minds with interest, desire and desire for something more. By learning how little we really know, we hope to be forced to seek Christ more deeply.

However, a second intuition that we can obtain from this passage is that, although the numerous events of the life of Christ cannot be contained in countless volumes of books, we can still discover Jesus himself in what is contained in the Holy Scriptures. No, we may not know every detail of his life, but we can come and meet the person. We can come to meet the living Word of God himself in the Scriptures and, in that encounter and encounter with Him, we are given everything we need.

Reflect today on how deeply you know Jesus. Do you spend enough time reading and pondering the scriptures? Do you talk to him daily and try to get to know and love him? Is he present to you and do you regularly make himself present to him? If the answer to any of these questions is "No", then perhaps this is a good day to start again with a deeper reading of the Sacred Word of God.

Sir, I may not know all about your life, but I want to know you. I want to meet you every day, love you and get to know you. Help me to enter more deeply into a relationship with you. Jesus I believe in you.
