Think about your desires today. The ancient prophets and kings "desired" to see the Messiah

Addressing his disciples privately, he said: “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they did not see it and hear what you heard, but they did not hear it. " Luke 10: 23–24

What did the disciples see that made their eyes "blessed?" Clearly, they were blessed to see our Lord. Jesus was the one promised by the prophets and kings of old and was now there, in flesh and blood, present for the disciples to see. While we do not have the privilege of "seeing" our Lord in the same way the disciples did some 2.000 years ago, we do have the privilege of seeing him in countless other ways in our daily lives, if we only have "seeing eyes" and ears. to listen.

Since the appearance of Jesus on Earth, in the flesh, much has changed. Eventually the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and sent on a mission to change the world. The Church has been established, the Sacraments have been instituted, Christ's teaching authority has been exercised, and countless saints have given witness to the Truth with their lives. The last 2000 years have been years in which Christ has been continuously manifested to the world in countless ways.

Today, Christ is still present and continues to stand before us. If we have the eyes and ears of faith, we will not miss it day after day. We will see and understand the countless ways he speaks to us, guides us and guides us today. The first step towards this gift of sight and hearing is your desire. Do you want the truth? Do you want to see Christ? Or are you satisfied with the many confusions of life that try to distract you from what is more real and more life changing?

Reflect on your desire today. The ancient prophets and kings "desired" to see the Messiah. We have the privilege of having him alive in our presence today, speaking to us and calling us continually. Cultivate the desire of our Lord in yourself. Let it become a burning flame that longs to consume all that is true and all that is good. Desire God. Desire his truth. Desire His guiding hand in your life and allow Him to bless you beyond what you can imagine.

My divine Lord, I know that you are alive today, speak to me, call me and reveal your glorious presence to me. Help me to desire You and, in that desire, to turn to You with all my heart. I love you, my Lord. Help me love you more. Jesus I believe in you.
