Reflect today on the central and singular role of Jesus in your life

“I am the way, the truth and the life. Nobody comes to the Father except through me. " John 14: 6

Are you saved? I hope the answer is "Yes" in three ways: you have been saved by grace through baptism, you continue to be saved by the grace and mercy of God as you freely choose to follow him, and you hope to be saved in the last hour as well as enter glories of heaven. Everything we do in life means nothing if we can't answer "Yes" in this threefold way.

It is also important to remember how we are saved. How were we, are and hope to receive the precious gift of salvation? The answer is simple: through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our one and only way to the Father. There is no other way to achieve salvation except through Him.

Sometimes we can fall into the trap of thinking of achieving salvation simply by being "good". In other words, do your good works save you? The correct answer is both "Yes" and "No." It is "Yes" only in the sense that our good works are a necessary part of union with Christ. Without him we cannot do anything good. But if we have accepted Christ in our life and, therefore, if we are on the way to salvation, then good works will necessarily be present in our life. But the answer is also "No", in the sense that only Jesus and Jesus is the only Savior. We can't save ourselves, no matter how hard we try to be good.

This discussion is particularly familiar among our Christian evangelical brothers and sisters. But it's a conversation we should also be quite familiar with. At the heart of this conversation is the person of Jesus Christ. He and He alone must be at the center of our lives and we must see it as Way, Truth and Life. It is the only Way to Heaven, it is the fullness of Truth in which we must believe, and it is the Life that we are called to live and it is the source of this new life of Grace.

Reflect today on the central and singular role of Jesus in your life. Without him you are nothing, but with him you get the life of perfect realization. Choose Him in a very personal and concrete way today as your Lord and Savior. Humbly admit that you are nothing without Him and let him enter your life so that he can offer you to His loving Father in heaven.

My Lord and my Savior, I say "Yes" to you today and accept you in my life as my Lord and Savior. I thank you for the gift of Baptism that began my life of grace and I renew my choice to follow you today so that you can enter more fully into my life. When you enter my life, please offer me to the Father in heaven. May all my actions be directed by you so that I can be an eternal offer with you, dear Jesus. Jesus I believe in you.
