Reflect today on trust in God

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. "Matthew 5:17

Sometimes God seems to move slowly ... very slowly. Perhaps we have all found it difficult to be patient with God's times in our lives. It is easy to think that we know better and if we pray only more, then we will push the hand of God and eventually act, doing what we pray for. But that's not how God works.

The scriptures above should give us an idea of God's ways. They are slow, steadfast and perfect. Jesus refers to the "law and the prophets" by stating that he did not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. This is true. But it is worth looking carefully at how it happened.

It has happened over many thousands of years. It took time for God's perfect plan to unfold. But it took place in his time and in his way. Perhaps everyone in the Old Testament was anxious for the Messiah to come and accomplish all things. But prophet after prophet came and went and continued to indicate the future coming of the Messiah. Even the Old Testament law was a way to prepare the people of God for the coming of the Messiah. But once again, it was a slow process of forming the law, of implementation for the people of Israel, which allowed them to understand it and therefore to start living it.

Even when the Messiah finally came, there were many who, in their excitement and zeal, wanted Him to accomplish all things at that time. They wanted their earthly kingdom to be established and they wanted their new Messiah to occupy His Kingdom!

But God's plan was very different from human wisdom. His ways were far above our ways. And its ways continue to be far above our ways! Jesus fulfilled every part of the Old Testament law and prophets, just as they did not expect.

What does this teach us? It teaches us a lot of patience. And it teaches us surrender, trust and hope. If we want to pray hard and pray well, we must pray correctly. And the correct way to pray is to pray continually for your will to be done! Once again, at the beginning it is difficult, but it becomes easy when we understand and believe that God always has the perfect plan for our life and for every struggle and situation in which we find ourselves.

Reflect today on your patience and your trust in the ways of the Lord. He has a perfect plan for your life and that plan is probably different from your plan. Surrender to Him and let His saint guide you in all things.

Lord, I entrust you my life. I trust that you have the perfect plan for me and for all your beloved children. Give me the patience to wait for you and let you do your divine will in my life. Jesus I believe in you!
