He risked dying of cancer but the hand of Benedict XVI miraculously healed him

At only 19 he risked dying of cancer, then the miraculous meeting with Pope Benedict XVI that saves his life and transforms it for him.

BLESSING

What we tell you today is the story of Peter Srsich originally from Denver, Colorado. It was 2012, when the young man and his family flew to Rome for a trip organized by the foundation "Make a Wish“, which allows patients to make their dreams come true.

As soon as they arrived they went to the square Saint Peter to meet Benedict XVI, when the boy, standing in line, realized that almost everyone had a gift for the Pope, except him. The father at that point suggested that he give him his bracelet, with the inscription "Praying for Peter“, a gift from a classmate.

Peter was in a desperate condition. The tumor that afflicted him pressed on the heart and did not allow him to be subjected to anesthesia to carry out the necessary biopsies. Peter had sunk into depression, the only moment of relief he found when he received the 'Eucharist.

PRIEST

The gesture of Pope XVI

Peter was convinced that only the faith could save him and this had prompted him to go to Rome. When it was time to meet the Pope, due to the limited time available, the boy was only able to tell him that he had cancer. At that point Benedict XVI gave him the blessing placing hands where the tumor was located.

Although the pontiff did not know where it was located, he put his hands right in the exact spot. From that day, year after year, the disease regressed until it disappeared completely. It will never be known whether this healing was due to John XVI, but from that moment Peter began to mature his vocation to the priesthood.

In 2014 Peter enters the seminary and remains until his presbyterial ordination in 2021. To the Denver Catholic, a magazine of his diocese, tells of his devotion to the Eucharist as a gift given to him by God.
