Return to God with this sincere prayer

The act of rededicating means humiliating you, confessing your sin to the Lord and returning to God with all your heart, soul, mind and being. If you recognize the need to rededicate your life to God, here are some simple instructions and a suggested prayer to follow.

Humiliated
If you are reading this page, you have probably already begun to humble yourself and to send your will and your ways back to God:

If my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn away from their evil ways, then I will listen from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV)
Start with confession
The first act of rededication is to confess your sins to the Lord, Jesus Christ:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all injustice. (1 John 1: 9, NIV)
Pray a rededication prayer
You can pray in your own words or pray this Christian rededication prayer. Thank God for a change of attitude so that your heart can return to what is most important.

Dear Sir,
I humble myself before you and confess my sin. I want to thank you for listening to my prayer and for helping me get back to you. Lately, I wanted things to go my way. As you know, this didn't work. I see where I'm going in the wrong direction, my way. I placed my trust and trust in everyone and everything except you.

Dear Father, now I return to you, to the Bible and to your Word. Please guide while listening to your voice. I'd like to go back to what's most important, you. Help my attitude change so that instead of focusing on others and events to satisfy my needs, I can turn to you and find the love, purpose and direction I am looking for. Help me find you first. Let my relationship with you be the most important thing in my life.
Thank you, Jesus, for helping me, loving me and showing me the way. Thanks for new mercies, for forgiving me. I dedicate myself completely to you. I surrender my will to your will. I give you control of my life.
You are the only one who gives freely, with love to anyone who asks for it. The simplicity of all this still amazes me.
In the name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
Seek God first
Seek the Lord first in everything you do. Discover the privilege and adventure of spending time with God. Consider spending time on daily devotions. If you include prayer, praise, and Bible reading in your daily routine, it will help you stay focused and dedicated entirely to the Lord.

But seek first his kingdom and his justice, and all these things will be given to you too. (Matthew 6:33 NIV)
Other Bible verses for rededication
This famous passage contains King David's rededication prayer after the prophet Nathan faced him with his sin (2 Samuel 12). David had an adulterous relationship with Bathsheba and then covered him up by having her husband killed and taking Bathsheba as his wife. Consider incorporating parts of this passage into your rededication prayer:

Wash me from my guilt. Purify me of my sin. Because I recognize my rebellion; haunts me day and night. I have sinned against you and only you; I have done what is bad in your eyes. You will be shown exactly what you say and your judgment against me is right.
Purify me of my sins and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than the snow. Oh, give me my joy again; you broke me, now let me cheer up. Don't keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt.
Create a pure heart in me, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Don't banish me from your presence and don't take away your Holy Spirit. Give me back the joy of your salvation and make me willing to obey you. (Excerpts from Psalm 51: 2–12, NLT)
In this passage, Jesus told his followers that they were looking for the wrong thing. They sought miracles and cures. The Lord told them to stop focusing their attention on things that would please themselves. We need to focus on Christ and find out what he wants us to do every day through a relationship with him. Only while we follow this lifestyle can we understand and know who Jesus really is. Only this lifestyle leads to eternal life in paradise.

Then [Jesus] said to the crowd: "If any of you want to be my follower, you must abandon your way, take your cross every day and follow me." (Luke 9:23, NLT)
