Priest: puts the image of the "Divine Mercy" on the front door to ask for protection during the coronavirus

A priest is urging Christians to publish an image of Divine Mercy on the doors of their homes to protect them and their families during the coronavirus pandemic.

In his "Seal the Doors" video of March 26, p. Chris Alar of the Marian Priests of the Immaculate Conception asks listeners to put a copy of the image of the Divine Mercy of Jesus on the front door, facing outwards. He calls this coronavirus response "a simple but incredibly powerful act of faith."

The name of the "Seal the Doors" initiative derives from an invitation in the Magnificat missal: "We seal the jambs of our inner thoughts with the protective Word of God". This is a reference to Exodus 12: 7, in which the Israelites are asked to put the blood of the lamb or goat from their Passover meal on their jambs so that the Angel of Death passes them.

Speaking from the National Shrine of Divine Mercy, Alar, 50, explains why the image of Divine Mercy is so important.

"The image represents the Lord, the Lamb of God sacrificed for us, from whose heart flows blood and water, the sign of God's mercy over the whole world," he says.

“The Lord promises us through Santa Faustina, that the soul who will venerate and honor this image will never perish. It also promises victory over our enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death, and to defend ourselves as His glory, "he continues.

"The Lord said, 'By means of this image, I will bestow many graces on souls, so let every soul have access to it."

Sister Faustina Kowalska, born in Głogowiec, Poland, lived from 1905 to 1938. In 1931, she experienced her first vision of Divine Mercy: Our Lord Jesus with white and red rays firing from her heart. In her diary she wrote that he had ordered her to record it in this way, saying "Paint an image according to the scheme you see, with the words" Jesus, I trust you ". I want this image to be venerated, first in your chapel and then all over the world. I promise that the soul who will worship this image will not perish. ”His visions persisted and he spent the rest of his life promoting devotion to Divine Mercy.

His confessor, the blessed Fr. Michael Sopocko wrote that the Lord later told the mystic that "when the punishments for sins will come all over the world, and your country will suffer absolute degradation, the only refuge will be trust in My Mercy".

The Polish mystic reported that the Lord had said that he will protect the cities and houses where the image of Divine Mercy is located and that he will protect the people who honor her.

"Allow everyone to get this image for their homes because there will still be evidence, and those homes, entire families and all those who will hold this image of Mercy in profound reverence, will protect against all sorts of misfortune," said Saint Faustina He is saying.

Br. Alar tells the laity in his video how they can lawfully bless the image if they are unable to convince a priest to do it. Note, however, that honoring Divine Mercy in this way may not be sufficient protection against the Covid-19 coronavirus.

"Although this act of faith may not guarantee that your family is not physically affected by the virus, it will guarantee that, with your trust in Jesus, you will get His promises of love and mercy, which will surround you and remain in you forever", He says.

Alar was ordained a priest in May 2014. Before answering his call ("I am a late calling"), he had a house, a company and a girlfriend.

Today Alar rejects any suggestion that venerating the image of Divine Mercy is a particularly Polish devotion with less relevance for Americans and others around the world.

"Jesus, through the words he gave to Sister Faustina, stressed that His Mercy is for the whole world," he told LifeSiteNews.

Alar explained that Our Lord told Saint Faustina that "a spark will come from Poland to prepare the world for my final coming".

"Sister Faustina, St. John Paul II and the whole message of Divine Mercy are the spark."
