Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, protector of young people and students "We invoke you, help our children"

In this article we want to tell you about St. Luigi Gonzaga, a young saint. Born in 1568 into a noble family, Luigi was designated as heir by his father, the Marquis Ferrante Gonzaga. But already at the age of seven, Louis began to show a certain intolerance for the worldly life of the nobles and began to pray more and more frequently.

During a stay in Florence atage of ten, Louis was disgusted by the corrupt and decadent environment of the Grand Duke's court Tuscany Francesco de' Medici. This experience strengthened his determination to dedicate his life to God. As a novice, he devoted himself to study and prayer, but his superiors encouraged him to reduce his penances and take better care of himself. In 1588, Louis was ordained priest and dedicated himself to the care of plague and typhoid patients in Rome.

In 1591, Louis fell ill after caring for a plague patient and he died at just 23 years old. He was canonized in 1726 by Pope Benedict XIII and declared patron of students, of Catholic youth and AIDS sufferers.
