Sandra Sabattini, who is the first girlfriend to become Blessed

Is called Sandra Sabattini and it's the first bride to be declared Blessed in the history of the Church. On 24 October Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, presided over the beatification mass.

Sandra was 22 and engaged to Guido Rossi. She dreamed of becoming a missionary doctor in Africa, which is why she enrolled in theUniversity of Bologna to study medicine.

From an early age, just 10, God made his way into his life. He soon began writing his experiences in a personal diary. "A life lived without God is just a way to spend time, boring or funny, a time to complete the waiting for death, ”he stated in one of his pages.

She and her fiance attended the Pope John XXIII Community, and together they lived a relationship marked by a tender and chaste love, in the light of the Word of God. However, one day the two left with a friend for a community meeting near Rimini, where they lived.

On Sunday 29 April at 9:30 in the morning she arrived on the spot by car with her boyfriend and a friend. Just as she was getting out of the car, she, along with her friend Elio, was violently hit by another car. A few days later, on May 2, Sandra died in hospital.

During the beatification ceremony, Cardinal Semerano said in his homily that "Sandra was a true artist"Because" she has learned the language of love very well, with its colors and music ". His Holiness was "his willingness to share with the little ones, putting his whole young earthly life at the service of God, made up of enthusiasm, simplicity and great faith", he added.

Blessed Sandra Sabattini, he recalled, "welcomed the needy without judging them because she wanted to communicate the love of the Lord to them". In this sense, his charity was "creative and concrete", because "to love someone is to feel what he needs and to accompany him in his pain".
