Saint Faustina tells you how to pray in front of the Crucifix: from her diary

Do you understand the Passion of our Lord? Do you feel his sufferings in your soul? This may seem undesirable at first. But perceiving the sufferings and the passion of our Lord is a great grace. When we perceive His suffering, we must therefore meet it and embrace it as our own. We have to live his sufferings. In doing so, we begin to discover that his suffering is nothing but divine love and mercy. And we find that the love in His soul that has endured all suffering allows us to endure all things with love. Love endures everything and wins everything. Let this holy and purified love consume you so that you can endure, with love, whatever you encounter in life (See Journal # 46).

Look at the crucifix this day. Contemplate the perfect Sacrifice of Love. Look at our God who willingly put up with everything out of love for you. Reflect on this great mystery of love in suffering and love in sacrifice. Understand it, accept it, love it and live it.

Lord, your cross is the perfect example of sacrificial love. It is the purest and highest form of love ever known. Help me understand this love and accept it in my heart. And as I accept Your perfect Sacrifice of Love, help me to live that love in all that I do and in all that I am. Jesus I believe in you.
