Santa Rita of Cascia, the patron saint of marriages

Margherita Lotti, known as Santa Rita, was born in 1381. Still in swaddling clothes he performed his first miracles. It is said that one day, while Rita's parents were busy working in the fields, they had left the baby in the cradle under a tree. A few white bees buzzed around her. A farmer, who had recently injured his hand, noticed it and tried to push them away with the injured limb. At that moment she healed like her by a miracle and her wound disappeared completely.

The miracles of Santa Rita

Rita grew up. She was a cultured and devoted child. At the age of 16 years, however, her parents decided to marry her off to a violent man, from whom she had 2 children. The man was killed by some brigands and later his children also died due to an illness.

Rita left alone, sought consolation in faith by going to live at monastero. In the monastery Rita took care of one plant which when it arrived was a simple piece of wood. Over time and thanks to his care, it became a splendid vine that he gives birth to every year White grapes.

Over the years the veneration of Santa Rita for Christ he grew to the point of wanting to experience his own sufferings. And so it happens. One day as she contemplated the crucifix and looked at the crown of thorns, one stuck in his forehead. He carried her in pain for 15 years, until the day she died.

A few days before she died, she asked her cousin to bring her one rose and two figs. The cousin was a bit incredulous as it was winter and the flowers had not yet blossomed. But she, arrived in the field of Rocca Polena, she saw in the snow just a rose and 2 figs. From that moment the pink became the symbol of Santa Rita.

After a few months he died and on his deathbed we saw the arrival of black bees. A humble carpenter devoted to the Saint would have liked to build him a coffin but unfortunately he had lost theuse of hands. That day approaching his deathbed to say his last goodbyes, miraculously healed and was able to build him the humble chest he had promised her.
