When we got home her uncles put her to bed, despite her Teresa she kept saying she felt better than her. The next day, she felt such a profound unease that she thought it was the work of demon.

Unfortunately at the time, this disease give strange symptoms, was not taken much into consideration and many people thought that the girl had made it all up. The more people didn't believe him, the more Teresa's malaise increased.

The Saint, then only a little girl, remembers that in those periods she could not think, she almost always appeared in delirium and she was so stunned that if they killed her, she wouldn't even notice. She was at the mercy of anything and anyone.

The testimony of cousin Marie Guerin

Santa Teresa's cousin, Marie Guerin, remembers the entire evolutionary path of the cousin's disease. The malaise made its debut with a fever which quickly turned into depression. Depression manifested itself with states of hallucination that made him see things and people around him as monstrous beings. In the most terrible phase of the disease Teresa had to face various motor crises, moments in which the body rotated on itself. She writhed and exhausted she just wanted to die.

It was the May 13, 1883, when Teresa, now at the limit of her strength, turns to the Mother of Heaven and asks him to have mercy on her. He prayed with all her heart in front of the statue of the Virgin next to her.

Suddenly the face of the Madonna appeared to her tender and full of sweetness, her enchanting smile. At that moment all her pains disappeared and tears of joy they scratched her face. all the suffering and pain had finally disappeared and his heart had reopened to hope.
