Saint of the day for November 27
(6 August 1681 - 29 November 1742)

History of San Francesco Antonio Fasani

Born in Lucera, Francesco entered the conventual Franciscans in 1695. After his ordination 10 years later, he taught philosophy to the younger friars, served as guardian of his convent and later became provincial minister. After his mandate, Francis became novice master and finally parish priest in his hometown.

In his various ministries he was loving, devoted and penitential. He was a sought after confessor and preacher. A witness at the canonical audiences on Francis' holiness testified: “In his preaching he spoke in a familiar way, full as he was of the love of God and neighbor; on fire by the Spirit, he made use of the word and work of Sacred Scripture, stimulating his listeners and urging them to do penance “. Francis showed himself to be a faithful friend of the poor, never hesitating to ask the benefactors what he needed.

Upon his death in Lucera, the children ran through the streets shouting: “The saint is dead! The saint is dead! ”Francis was canonized in 1986.

Reflection

Eventually we become what we choose. If we choose greed, we become greedy. If we choose compassion, we become compassionate. The holiness of Francesco Antonio Fasani is the result of his many small decisions to cooperate with the grace of God.
