Will we be able to see and recognize our friends and family in heaven?

Many people say that the first thing they want to do when they get to heaven will be to see all their friends and loved ones who died before them. I don't think that will be the case. Of course, I really believe that we will be able to see, recognize and spend time with our friends and family in heaven. In eternity there will be a lot of time for all this. However, I don't think this will be our main thought in heaven. I believe we will be far more busy worshiping God and enjoying the wonders of heaven by worrying about being reunited immediately with our loved ones.

What does the Bible say about whether we can see and recognize our loved ones in heaven? When David's newborn son died of David's sin with Bat-Seba, after his mourning period, David exclaimed: “Can I possibly bring him back? I will go to him, but he will not return to me! " (2 Samuel 12:23). David took it for granted that he would be able to recognize his son in heaven, despite the fact that he had died as a baby. The Bible states that when we get to heaven, "we will be like him, because we will see him as he is" (1 John 3: 2). 1 Corinthians 15: 42-44 describes our resurrected bodies: “So it is also with the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown corruptible and rises incorruptible; it is sown ignoble and resurrects glorious; it is sown weak and raised powerful; it is sown a natural body and it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. "

Just as our earthly bodies were like those of the first man, Adam (1 Corinthians 15: 47a), so our resurrected bodies will be exactly like that of Christ (1 Corinthians 15: 47b): “And as we have brought the image of the terrestrial, so we will also carry the image of the celestial. […] In fact, this corruptible must put on incorruptibility and this mortal must put on immortality ”(1 Corinthians 15:49, 53). Many people recognized Jesus after his resurrection (John 20:16, 20; 21:12; 1 Corinthians 15: 4-7). Therefore, if Jesus was recognizable in His resurrected body, I see no reason to believe that it will not be so with us. Being able to see our loved ones is a glorious aspect of heaven, but the latter affects much more God and much less our desires. What a pleasure it will be to be reunited with our loved ones and, together with them, to worship God for all eternity!
