Are you alert to the endless number of ways God is trying to enter your life?

“Stay awake! Because you don't know on what day your Lord will come “. Matthew 24:42

What if today was that day?! What if I knew that today is the day our Lord would return to Earth in all His splendor and glory to judge the living and the dead? Would you behave differently? Most likely we all would. We would likely contact as many people as possible and inform them of the Lord's impending return, confess, and then spend the day in prayer.

But what would be the ideal answer to such a question? If, through a special revelation from God, you were made aware that today was the day the Lord would return, what would be the ideal answer? Some have suggested that the ideal answer is that you go about your day as if it were any other day. Because? Because ideally we all live each day as if it were our last and listen to the above Scripture daily. We strive, every day, to “stay awake” and be ready for our Lord's return at any time. If we are truly embracing this Scripture, then it doesn't matter if His return is today, tomorrow, next year, or many years from now.

But this call to "stay awake" refers to something more than the final and glorious coming of Christ. It also refers to every moment of every day when our Lord comes to us by grace. It refers to every suggestion of His love and mercy in our hearts and souls. It refers to his continuous and gentle whispers that call us closer to Him.

Are you careful of Him coming to you in these ways every day? Are you alert to the infinite number of ways he is trying to enter your life more fully? Although we don't know the day our Lord will come in His final victory, we do know that every day and every moment of every day is a moment of His coming by grace. Listen to it, be attentive, be alert and stay awake!

Lord, help me seek your voice and be attentive to your presence in my life. May I be continually awake and ready to listen to you when you call. Jesus I believe in you.
