Short prayers to recite when we are in front of a crucifix

Sometimes we may get used to seeing Jesus on Cross and forget the power of that image. The CrucifixHowever, it is there to remind us of the love God has for us and to elicit a response of equal love in return.

Here, then, are some short prayers that can be said when we pass in front of a Crucifix, returning our love to God and acknowledging the great sacrifice he made for us.

  • You gave yourself entirely to me. Now I give myself entirely to you.
  • You did not abandon me when I turned away from You; Do not abandon me, I ask You, now that I would like to seek You.
  • Sweet Jesus, let me not separate me from You. Who can separate me from the love of Jesus?
  • Lord Jesus Christ, for your sufferings when your pure and innocent soul left your most holy body, have mercy on my poor soul when it leaves my body.
  • My Jesus, you died for my love; I would die for your love.
