Extraordinary: the Eucharistic miracle of Cascia

In Cascia, in the Basilica dedicated to S. Rita, there is also the relic of an outstanding Eucharistic miracle, which took place near Siena in 1330. A priest was asked to bring Communion to an infirm peasant. The priest took a consecrated Particle and irreverently placed it among the pages of his breviary and went to the farmer. Arriving at the sick man's house, after confessing, he opened the book to take it
The Host that had placed it, but to his surprise, found that the Particle had been tinged with blood so much that it impregnated both the pages between which it had been placed. The priest, confused and repentant, immediately went to Siena at the Augustinian Convent to ask for advice from Father Simone Fidati da Cascia, known by all for being a holy man.
The latter, hearing the story, granted forgiveness to the priest and asked to keep those two blood-stained pages with him. Numerous were the Supreme Pontiffs who promoted the cult by granting indulgences.
In the act of recognition of the Relic of the Eucharistic Miracle of Cascia which took place in 1687, there is also the text of an ancient Codex of the convent of Sant'Agostino which describes numerous news concerning the Prodigy. In addition to this code, the episode is also mentioned in the Municipal Statutes of Cascia of 1387 where, among other things, it was ordered that "every year on the feast of Corpus Domini, the Power, the Consuls and all the people of Casciano, were required to gather in the church of Sant'Agostino and following the clergy who was to bring that venerable Relic of the most sacred Body of Christ processionally through the city ». In 1930, on the occasion of the sixth centenary of the event, a Eucharistic Congress was celebrated in Cascia for the entire diocese of Norcia; a precious and artistic Monstrance was then inaugurated and all the historical documentation available in this regard was published.
