Letter from Sister Lucy to Father Agostino Fuentes dated May 22, 1958
“Father, Our Lady is very discontented because Her message of 1917 has not been noticed. Neither the good nor the bad have noticed it. The good go their own way without worrying, and do not follow the celestial norms: the bad ones, in the broad way of perdition, do not take into account the threatened punishments. Believe, Father, the Lord God will very soon chastise the world. The punishment will be material, and imagine, Father, how many souls will fall into hell, if we do not pray and do penance. This is the cause of Our Lady's sadness.
Father, tell everyone: “Our Lady has told me many times:« Many nations will disappear from the face of the earth. Nations without God will be the scourge chosen by God to punish humanity if we, through prayer and the sacraments, do not obtain the grace of their conversion ”. What afflicts the Immaculate Heart of Mary and of Jesus is the fall of religious and priestly souls. The devil knows that religious and priests, neglecting their sublime vocation, drag many souls to hell. We are just in time to hold back Heaven's punishment. We have two very effective means at our disposal: prayer and sacrifice. The devil does everything to distract us and take away the pleasure of prayer. We will be saved, or we will be damned. However, Father, it is necessary to tell people that they must not stand by and hope for a call to prayer and penance neither from the Supreme Pontiff, nor from the bishops, nor from the parish priests, nor from the Superiors. It is already time for everyone, on his own initiative, to carry out holy works and reform his life according to the calls of the Madonna. The devil wants to take possession of consecrated souls, he works to corrupt them, to induce others to final impenitence; he uses all the tricks, even suggesting to update the religious life! From this comes sterility in the interior life and coldness in the seculars regarding the renunciation of pleasures and total immolation to God. Remember, Father, that two facts concurred to sanctify Jacinta and Francesco: the affliction of the Madonna and the vision of hell. The Madonna is found as if between two swords; on the one hand you see humanity as obstinate and indifferent to the punishments threatened; on the other she sees us trampling the SS. Sacraments and we despise the punishment that draws us closer, remaining incredulous, sensual and materialistic.
Our Lady expressly said: “We are approaching the last days”, and she repeated it to me three times. She stated earlier that the devil has engaged in the final fight, from which one of the two will emerge victorious or defeated. Either we are with God, or we are with the devil. The second time she repeated to me that the last remedies given to the world are: the Holy Rosary and the devotion to the Heart of Mary. The third time she told me that, “having exhausted the other means despised by men, she offers us with trembling the last anchor of salvation: the SS. Virgin herself, her numerous apparitions, her tears, the messages of the visionaries scattered throughout the world "; and Our Lady also said that if we do not listen to her and continue the offense, we will no longer be forgiven.
It is urgent, Father, that we realize the terrible reality. We do not want to fill souls with fear, but it is only an urgent reminder, because since the Holy Virgin. has given great efficacy to the Holy Rosary, there is no problem either material or spiritual, national or international, which cannot be resolved with the Holy Rosary and with our sacrifices. Recited with love and devotion, it will console Mary, wiping so many tears from her Immaculate Heart ”.
