Pietrelcina born in Benevento on 25 May 1887 and died in San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, 23 September 1968
Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Francesco Forgione), priest of the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor, who in the convent of San Giovanni Rotondo in Puglia worked hard in the spiritual direction of the faithful and in the reconciliation of penitents and had such provident care for the needy and the poor that on this day he concluded his earthly pilgrimage fully configured to Christ crucified.
