On January 2, 2021, a very strong headache forced her to return to the hospital where she died just over 2 months later. The last month has been terrible, a real one "Ascent to Golgotha". Everyone prayed for her, all over the world but this did not help to save her. Her greatest desire was to become a missionary.

Father Ángel Camino, the episcopal vicar of the Archdiocese of Madrid, went to see him in the La Paz hospital in Madrid, where he was hospitalized and she confessed to him that she dreamed of becoming a missionary: On that occasion the little girl had said:

I'm offering the sickness these days for the people; for example, for priests and for those who are ill… bring Jesus to children who do not know him, so that they may go to heaven happily ever after.

And, apparently, his dream has come true. Now, it is considered one "Protector of children on a mission". Shortly before her death she had asked to have a crucifix in the room and then, speaking with Father Ángel Camino, she had asked for her help and he had replied thus:

Teresita, I am constituting you at this very moment as a missionary of the Church, and this afternoon I will bring you the document that attests it and the cross of the missionary.

For Teresita Castillo de Diego, the terrible disease has never been a problem. She had entrusted herself completely to the young man carlo acutis, beatified on 10 October 2020 and to the venerable Montse Grases, both now Saints after dying at a young age. The little girl showed her fidelity to Jesus until the end.

Teresita was a young girl who prayed every day, who was loved by everyone who knew her, who always had a word of comfort for everyone. Rest in peace little star!
