Earthquake in Haiti, the VIDEO of the shock during the Mass

Un 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the south of Haiti on the morning of Saturday 14 August, causing over 700 deaths, nearly 3.000 injured and hundreds of buildings destroyed or damaged.

The earthquake was recorded 12 kilometers from the city of Saint Louis du Sud. The vibrations of the earthquake in Haiti were felt a Port-au-Prince, located 150 km from the epicenter, and have spread to other countries such as Dominican Republic, Jamaica o Cuba.

At the exact moment Haiti was shaken by this devastating earthquake, dozens of people were attending Mass in the Sistine Chapel of Fatima - in Port-au-Prince.

Towards the end of the celebration, while it was being broadcast via social media, the earthquake occurred and the priest and the faithful fled.

Due to the remoteness of the epicenter of the earthquake that struck Haiti, Port-au-Prince did not suffer considerable damage. However, hundreds of buildings were hit near the city of Saint-Louis du Sud.

One of the areas most affected by the earthquake is where it is located the community of Los Cayos. There, the house of the Catholic bishops was badly damaged, killing three people.

The director in Haiti of the humanitarian agency Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Akim Kikonda, said: "The CRS spoke with the staff of the bishops' house of Les Cayes (Los Cayos), who reported that the house was severely damaged. Unfortunately, in the house of the bishops of Les Cayes there were three deaths, including a priest and two employees ”.

It also confirmed that Cardinal Chibly Langlois, bishop of Les Cayes and president of the Bishops' Conference of Haiti (CEH), "is wounded, but his life is not in danger".

Other buildings such as the Church of the Sacred Heart have suffered considerable damage.
