The apparitions of Maria Rosa Mystica in Montichiari (BS)
The Marian apparitions of Montichiari are still shrouded in mystery today. In 1947 and 1966, the visionary Pierina Gilli claimed to have had apparitions of Maria Rosa Mystica, but the Catholic Church has never officially recognized them. Despite this, in December 2019 the bishop of Brescia declared the place of the apparitions as the Diocesan Sanctuary of Rosa Mistica - Mother of the Church.
pierina gilli she was an unusual visionary, who despite the fame brought by the apparitions, led a simple and isolated life. As described in her diary, her apparitions are divided into two cycles.
Maria Rosa Mystica and the two cycles of apparitions
Il first cycle occurred between 1946 and 1947, when Pierina was still recovering from one meningitis. In these apparitions, Santa Maria Crocifissa di Rosa appeared to her and showed her a beautiful Lady dressed in purple with three swords stuck in his chest. Santa Crocifissa explained that the Lady was the Madonna and that the three swords represented the souls consecrated to God. Our Lady asked Pierina to pray, sacrifice and do penance to help these souls.
In another appearance in July 1947, the Madonna appeared dressed all in white and had replaced the swords with three roses, one white, one red and one golden yellow. The roses represented him spirit of prayer, sacrifice and penance. Our Lady asked Pierina to dedicate the day 13th of each month to prayer and penance as a Marian day.
Il second cycle of apparitions occurred in 1966, when the Madonna appeared in the fields of Montichiari. In these apparitions, Our Lady invited i the sick and the suffering to bathe in a spring for relief and asked for a tub to be created. Our Lady also asked that the germ of the fields became Eucharistic bread for the restorative communion.
Despite the Catholic church did not recognize the apparitions, the place of the apparitions was declared the Diocesan Sanctuary of Rosa Mistica - Mother of the Church. The sanctuary includes two small chapels and the source of miraculous water.
Le three roses represent the spirit of prayer, sacrifice and penance to repair the offenses committed against the Lord by consecrated persons and Christians.
