The Church in the time of Covid: how does it communicate?

One of the most important forms within communication is thelistening. What are the communication methods adopted by Church in this pandemic time? Billions of people around the world are locked in or restricted from movement due to the pandemic. What does this distance mean for the Church?

In a very short time we felt lost and had to rethink everything we did or took for granted. The Church that is maestra of meeting and attention to the other, she suddenly found herself deprived of her fundamental element: hers community. Not being able to be together caused a sense of disorientation and this also applies to the school, to the family. When we know how to distance ourselves from what we do we have more perspective, we realize what is going and what is not. Distance and absence bring out the meaning of the relationship. If you don't feel the lack of what you did or someone it means that it was not essential for your life. So it's time to to understand whether what was done was vital or routine.

The man asks that the Church recover walk alongside the people and especially the poorest. At this moment every day there are people who are high Eucharist for others by doing their work well and putting themselves at the service of the common good. We are admiring the effort of doctors, nurses, law enforcement and volunteers but also the parents who put themselves in post-sales service each other to make this time liveable for their children. Therefore, if the Christian cannot receive communion it does not mean that he cannot live the Eucharist. The entrepreneur who is carefully preparing all forms of precaution for his employees to return to work so that they can work safely, is generating life of sharing. So the Eucharist is not just taking communion, it is becoming communion, bread broken for the other whoever he is.

The distance we mentioned earlier should make us understand if our way of communicating is adequate. The Church cannot be naive, it must have knowledge e consciousness of reality and communication technologies knowing how to use them, but also remembering that Jesus at every sign of the crowd that applauds him, he takes refuge in solitude to pray. We don't use the communication to manipulate and enslave, but for free. The exercise of freedom is first of all the exercise of responsibility. The word of Jesus is radically uncomfortable, if it had not been so he would not have been condemned and put to death on the cross.
