The Sanctuary of Collevalenza, considered the little all-Italian Lourdes

Il Sanctuary of Merciful Love of Collevalenza, also known as the "little Lourdes", has a fascinating history linked to the figure of Mother Speranza. The presence of the swimming pools and the blessed water spring links this Umbrian place to the famous French Marian citadel.

After 4 years of closure due to the Covid pandemic and for renovation works, the swimming pools of the Sanctuary were finally reopened last Saturday. This event was welcomed with great joy by the pilgrims who can finally immerse yourself in water coming from the source of merciful love.

Mother Speranza was responsible for the construction of the sanctuary

The swimming pools were inaugurated for the first time ion March 1, 1979 In presence of Mother Hope, the founder of the Sanctuary and Blessed in 2014. It was Mother Speranza who was inspired to identify the source of theholy water in 1960, despite the initial disbelief of others. Today, the water feeds not only the pools, but also the fountains in the Sanctuary.

Mother Speranza received the message from Jesus in which he told him to have some excavations carried out to find the blessed spring, which actually turned out to be 120 meters of depth on a clay hill. The Sanctuary of Merciful Love is the first in the world to have this special title.

Pope John Paul II visited the Sanctuary on 22 November of the 1981, in one of his first public outings after the attack in May. L'8 February, on the occasion of the liturgical feast of Mother Speranza, the new blessing and inauguration of swimming pools. This allowed the faithful to immerse themselves again to ask Mary for grace.

The Sanctuary of Collevalenza represents a place of faith and hope for many, uniting pilgrims in the search for divine grace and God's mercy.
