The smallest girl in the world is fine, the story of the miracle of life

After 13 months, the little girl Kwek Yu Xuan left the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National University Hospital (NUH) to Singapore. The baby, considered the smallest premature in the world, was born 24 centimeters long and weighing 212 grams, three months earlier than expected.

His mother, Wong Mei Lin, she was 25 weeks pregnant when she underwent a caesarean section for pre-eclampsia. A normal pregnancy, in fact, takes 40 weeks to give birth.

"Against all odds, with health complications present at birth, she has inspired those around her with her perseverance and growth, making her an extraordinary 'Covid-19' child - a ray of hope amidst the turbulence," the hospital said in a statement.

Kwek, who is now 1 year and 2 months old, has reached 6,3 kilos. He's fine but he has one chronic lung disease which will require breathing aid at home. However, the expectation is that the picture will improve over time. The parents received money to charity to cover the costs of their daughter's care.
