The testimony of faith of Giulia, who died at the age of 14 of a sarcoma

This is the story of a 14 year old girl Julia Gabrieli, suffering from sarcoma that affected her left hand in August 2009. One summer morning Giulia wakes up with a swollen hand and her mother begins to apply local cortisone to it. After a few days, as her pain didn't diminish, Giulia was accompanied by her mother to the pediatrician who began a series of checks and tests.

Only when the biopsy was taken, however, did it come to light that it was a sarcoma. On 2 September Giulia begins the cycle of chemotherapy. The girl was always positive, despite the fact that she knew well all the possible consequences of the disease.

He had boundless faith in the Lord, prayed to him with joy and entrusted himself completely to him. Giulia has a brother who was 8 years old at the time of her illness, whom she loved very much. He worried about her in those days because her parents showed more attention towards her and he feared that her brother might suffer.

Giulia's unshakable faith

During her illness, the girl was forced to bed for long periods, but despite everything her faith remained intact, it never wavered. One day, being in Padua for visits, the family accompanies her to the Basilica of Sant'Antonio. A woman approaches her and puts her hand on hers. At that moment the girl felt that the Lord was close to her.

Monsignor Beschi he met Giulia at the funeral of Yara Gambirasio and since then he has always visited her in the hospital. Every time he was amazed by her communicative ability and by her inner richness, but above all by her very intense faith, which he was able to communicate to anyone who would listen.

In the hospital, the girl offered her testimony of faith without setting herself up as a witness. Her faith was a positive struggle with the Lord, she embodied love for God and at the same time her disease, even though she knew that this disease could also lead to death.

We want to conclude this article with a video of Giulia's prayer, a prayer where things are not asked of Jesus, but we thank him for everything he has granted us.
