The Madonna of Trevignano weeps tears of blood, people divided between faith and skepticism.

La Madonna of Trevignano is a sacred image found in the small town of Trevignano, located in the Italian region of Lazio. According to legend, the image miraculously appeared on the trunk of an ancient tree in the mid-1500s. Since then, it has been the object of great devotion by the faithful who come from all over Italy to pray to it.

Tears

However, in recent years, the statue has become known for an extraordinary event: the Madonna of Trevignano is said to have begun to cry tears of blood. The phenomenon, which has attracted media attention, has brought even more pilgrims to the small Italian town.

The first sign of the phenomenon occurred in 2016, when some faithful noticed red spots on the face of the statue. Initially, it was thought to be just some dust or paint, but then it became apparent that it was tears of blood. The phenomenon was repeated several times in the following months, arousing great curiosity and devotion among the faithful.

The life of Gisella, the woman who brought the statue back to Trevignano from a trip to Lourdes in 2016, has been upset ever since. Since then, the woman has reported her messages to her faithful every year, messages that invite them to get closer to the faith and not to be tempted by Satan.

The church through the Archbishop Marco Salvi let it be known that a diocesan commission will be set up for an investigation into the tears of the Madonna.

Witness accounts

Although we still don't have the certainty of tearing, there are numerous evidence of apparently "miraculous" episodes that took place in the small town located on the shores of Lake Bracciano, in Lazio. One of the witnesses, interviewed by the correspondent of Channel 5, states that he took some photos of the landscape and that on his return home, when he saw them again, he saw the Holy Virgin. But she is certainly not the only witness.

Even a group of faithful declares to have witnessed the tearing of the Madonna, while others affirm that Gisella Cardia would live the passion of Christ with stigmata, whipping, pain and crowning of thorns.
