Today's Gospel 6 September 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
First Reading

From the book of the prophet Ezekiel
Ez 33,1: 7-9-XNUMX

This word of the Lord was addressed to me: «O son of man, I have set you as a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, you must warn them from me. If I say to the wicked one: Wicked, you will die, and you do not speak for the wicked to desist from his course, he, the wicked one, will die for his iniquity, but I will ask you for his death. But if you warn the wicked of his conduct to convert and he does not convert from his conduct, he will die for his iniquity, but you will be saved. "

Second reading

From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Romans
Rom 13,8-10

Brothers, do not owe anything to anyone but mutual love; because whoever loves the other has fulfilled the Law. In fact: "You will not commit adultery, you will not kill, you will not steal, you will not desire", and any other commandment is summed up in this word: "You will love your neighbor as yourself". Charity does no harm to one's neighbor: in fact, the fullness of the Law is charity.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 18,15-20

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: «If your brother commits a fault against you, go and warn him between you and him alone; if he listens to you, you will have earned your brother; if he does not listen, take one or two people with you again, so that everything is resolved on the word of two or three witnesses. And if he doesn't listen to them, tell the community; and if he will not even listen to the community, let him be for you as the pagan and the publican. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. In truth, I still tell you: if two of you on earth agree to ask for anything, my Father who is in heaven will grant it to you. Because where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. "

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
The attitude is one of delicacy, prudence, humility, attention towards those who have committed a sin, avoiding that words can hurt and kill the brother. Because, you know, even words kill! When I spread it, when I make an unfair criticism, when I “strip” a brother with my tongue, this is killing the other's fame! Words also kill. Let's pay attention to this. At the same time, this discretion to speak to him alone has the purpose of not unnecessarily mortifying the sinner. There is talk between the two, no one notices and everything is over. It is very bad to see an insult or aggression come out of a Christian's mouth. It's ugly. I got it? No insult! Insulting is not Christian. I got it? Insulting is not Christian.
