How to turn distractions into prayers

San Giovanni della Croce advises to have cunning

to turn even distractions into prayer.

When in spite of yourself you are distracted, don't even take it too badly ...

this would be a further sign of your pride

who would like your prayer always perfect.

Instead, take advantage of the distraction to say to the Lord:

"You see him as I am small and weak and therefore truly in need of your Love".

And with an even more humble and more determined and confident heart

continue your prayer. Feel loved as you are,

with your poverty and your sin.

This is basically the only grace you really need: to feel loved.

You will find the strength to love yourself a little more,

a necessary condition to truly love others.

Loving the Lord and brothers will become for you

joyful need of love that you will carry out freely and with His love.
