Grant them health of the body and the serenity of the spirit: keep them alive for a long time for our affection as our guide and defense. Make them always observe your Law and be an example to us. Let us be their consolation in obedience and in love to reach that perfection they desire for us, so that on the last day we can rise again together in eternal joy.
We learn the discipline from the Holy Family

But lessons about hard work and discipline can be learned when parents strive to allow their children to help them in their daily activities at home. The children will learn also to obey the will of the parents, a training exercise in obedience to the will of the Father. As Saint Luke tells us, Jesus too "was obedient to them", "grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor of God and men" (Luke 2: 51–52). Obedience nourishes the virtue of humility, which is the foundation of all virtues and, with love, forms the core of holiness. We know that our children are not perfect. Their souls, like ours, have been stained with original sin. This is why discipline is essential for promoting holiness in the family.
The word discipline comes from the Latin word discipline , meaning "education or knowledge", from discipulus or "disciple". God has given parents the duty to discipline their children, and parents are accountable to God for the souls and education of their children. Children cannot learn virtue without the guidance and example of self-giving parents. Sometimes, it is good to offer children choices so that they can learn not only to think for themselves, but also to take personal responsibility. But children should never be allowed to choose something that endangers their souls.
