According to various reports in the local media, the diocese of Salt Lake City (Utah, United States) is investigating a possible miracle that occurred in the church of St. Francis Xavier in the locality of Kearns, about fifteen kilometers south of the state capital.

As local media reported, the consecrated host, the Body of Christ, was received by a child who apparently had not made First Communion. When he realized this, a minor's family member returned the Body of Christ to the priest, who placed the consecrated host in a glass of water to dissolve it. In general, in these cases the consecrated host dissolves in a few minutes.

Three days later the consecrated host not only continued to float in the glass, but had some small red spots, as if it were bleeding. When they realized the Eucharistic miracle, the parishioners approached to observe it and pray in front of the bleeding host.

The local diocese has set up a committee to investigate the possible Eucharistic miracle. The committee is made up of two priests, a deacon and a lay person, together with a professor of neurobiology. The diocese has taken custody of the bleeding host, which will not be exposed for public worship until the investigation of the case is completed.

"Reports of the diocese have recently circulated about a host that bled in the church of St. Francis Xavier of Kearns," said Mgr Francis Mansion, president of the committee.

“Archbishop Colin F. Bircumshaw, diocesan administrator, has appointed an ad hoc committee of individuals with different backgrounds to investigate the matter. The work of the commission has already started. The results will be made public. The host is now in the custody of the diocesan administrator. Contrary to rumors, there are currently no plans for its public display or worship. "

Archbishop Mansion concluded by adding that "whatever the outcome of the investigation, we can take advantage of this moment to renew our faith and devotion in the greatest miracle - the real presence of Jesus Christ, which is realized in every Mass".
