A bishop of the Philippines in Medjugorje "I believe that Our Lady is here"

Julito Cortes, a Bishop from the Philippines, was in Medjugorje in the company of thirty-five pilgrims. He has heard about Medjugorje since the beginning of the apparitions, when he was still a student in Rome. In an extensive conversation for Radio “Mir” Medjugorje, the Bishop spoke, among other things, of the joy of having been able to come, but also of the difficulties that objectively there were for them on the way to Medjugorje. “Coming here is very expensive for us. There is no Croatian or BiH embassy in the Philippines, so travel agency operators had to go to Malaysia to get visas for us, ”said Bishop Cortes. When they arrived in Medjugorje, the possibility of celebrating Holy Mass and, later, the Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, was a sign of welcome for them. "I believe that Our Lady wants us to be here" the Bishop underlined. Of his people and the country of the Philippines he said: “We are called the cradle of Christianity in the Far East. From the point of view of living the faith, we face great challenges, as it is for the other lands in which Christians live. There is a need for evangelization ”. The Bishop also spoke extensively of the need for a true commitment in this Year of Faith. He considers an opportunity and a challenge precisely what the Holy Father said in the Letter "Porta Fidei"
