A prayer of gratitude to the Church in this difficult moment

While most confessions believe that Christ is the head of the church, we all know that they are run by people who are not perfect. This is why our churches need our prayers. They need to be lifted up by us and we need God's grace and attention to guide our church leaders in his direction. We need our churches to be energized and full of spirit. God is the one who provides, whether it be for one person or a group of people, and he calls us to come together in prayer for one another and the church itself.

Here is a simple prayer for your church to get started.

Prayer
Sir, thank you for everything you do in our life. I am truly grateful for all that you have given me. From my friends to my family, you always bless me in ways that I can't fully imagine or understand. But I feel blessed. Lord, I'm going to lift you up my church today. It is the place where I go to worship you. It's where I learn about you. It is where you are present to the group, and therefore I ask for your blessings on it.

My church is more than a building to me, Lord. We are a group that stands up to each other and I ask you to give us the heart to continue that way. Lord, I ask you to bless us with the desire to do more for the world around us and for each other. I ask that the needy be identified by the church and be helped. I ask that we address the community where you find it useful. Above all, though, I ask you to bless us with the resources to carry out your mission for our church. I ask you to give us the opportunity to be great stewards of those resources and guide us to use them.

Lord, I also ask you to give us a strong sense of your spirit in our church. I ask you to fill our hearts with all that you are and to guide us in ways we always live in your will. I ask you to bless us in our direction and to show us how we can do more in you. Lord, I ask that when people come into our church they feel you all around them. I ask that we remain hospitable to each other and to strangers, and I ask for your grace and forgiveness when we slip.

And Lord, I ask for the blessing of wisdom on the leaders of our church. I ask you to guide the messages that come from the mouth of our leader. I ask that the words spoken among the faithful are those that honor you and do more to spread your Word than to damage relationships with you. I ask that we are honest, but encouraging. I ask you to guide our leaders to be examples for others. I ask you to continue to bless them with the hearts of the servants and a sense of responsibility towards those who lead.

I also ask that you continue to bless the ministries in our church. From Bible studies to the group of young people to childcare, I ask that we are able to speak to each congregant in the ways they require. I ask that the ministries be led by the ones you have chosen and that we all learn to be more from the leaders you have provided.

Lord, my church is one of the most important things in my life, because it brings me closer to you. I ask for your blessings on it and I raise it to you. Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to be a part of this congregation - and a part of you.

In your holy name, Amen.
