Retired man spends his time cuddling children in the hospital

When you think of the board, imagine how to spend time, travel, cruises, new hobbies. For most people, retirement is the well-deserved moment in which they are finally free to fill their time as they wish, without obligations or stress.

David

There is a man who once retired, however, did an extraordinary thing, he gave love to children in hospital, replacing and helping parents in difficulty.

David retires in 2005 after a career in sales. Since then she has been looking for a way to fill the time. So she decides to go to the Scottish Rite Hospital to ask if they needed a volunteer.

Once in the hospital he stops in the pediatric ward and there he discovers a program called “baby buddies“. The program invited volunteers to visit neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care units to comfort premature or special needs babies.

On the first day of his new job, David finds himself in his arms a newborn and immediately understands that this was the right place. Being able to help children and parents made him feel useful and made him happy.

David's big heart

Since that day David has dedicated every Tuesday and Thursday to pampering the newborns and without realizing it from that first day they have gone well 15 years.

The nurses believed that David had a real calling for the job. When the children cried or had to go through a difficult procedure, it was enough to place them in the man's arms and they would calm down.

David was happy and satisfied, that giving affection had rejuvenated him. But his mission went further, it was not only to help children but also to moms. He listened to them, supported them, made sure they could leave the ward to have breakfast or go home, sure of leaving their son in good hands.

In 2017 David had already comforted 1200 children and their parents.

Unfortunately the man dies on November 14, 2020 due to stage XNUMX pancreatic cancer. Now David is a beautiful angel watching and protecting all his children from up there.
