Gospel of 12 July 2018

Thursday of the XNUMXth week of Ordinary Time

Book of Hosea 11,1-4.8c-9.
When Israel was a boy, I loved him and I called my son from Egypt.
But the more I called them, the more they moved away from me; they sacrificed victims to the Baal, to the idols they burned incense.
In Ephraim I taught walking by the hand, but they did not understand that I cared for them.
I drew them with bonds of kindness, with bonds of love; for them I was like someone who raises a child to his cheek; I leaned over him to feed him.
My heart is moved within me, my intimate tremble with compassion.
I will not give vent to the ardor of my anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim, because I am God and not man; I am the Saint among you and I will not come to my anger.

Salmi 80(79),2ac.3bc.15-16.
You, shepherd of Israel, listen,
seated on the cherubs you shine!
Awaken your power
and come to our rescue.

God of armies, turn, look from heaven
and see and visit this vineyard,
protect the stump that your right has planted,
the sprout you've grown.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 10,7-15.
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: «Go, preach that the kingdom of heaven is near.
Heal the sick, raise the dead, heal lepers, drive out demons. For free you have received, for free you give ».
Do not get gold or silver or copper coins in your belts,
neither a travel bag, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a stick, because the worker has the right to his nourishment.
Whichever city or village you enter, ask if there is any worthy person, and stay there until your departure.
Upon entering the house, greet her.
If that house is worthy of it, let your peace descend upon it; but if it is not worthy of it, your peace will return to you. "
If someone then will not welcome you and not listen to your words, leave that house or that city and shake the dust off your feet.
In truth I tell you, on the day of judgment the country of Sodom and Gomorrah will have a more bearable fate than that city ».
