Gospel of November 12 2018

Letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to Titus 1,1-9.
Paul, servant of God, apostle of Jesus Christ to call God's elect to faith and to make known the truth that leads to piety
and is founded on the hope of eternal life, promised from eternal centuries by that God who does not lie,
and then manifested in his word through the preaching that was entrusted to me by the order of God, our savior,
to Titus, my true son in the common faith: grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus, our savior.
This is why I left you in Crete to regulate what remains to be done and to establish priests in each city, according to the instructions I have given you:
the candidate must be irreproachable, married only once, with children who believe and who cannot be accused of debauchery or are insubordinate.
In fact, the bishop, as administrator of God, must be irreproachable: not arrogant, not angry, not dedicated to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain,
but hospitable, lover of good, sensible, just, pious, self-master,
attached to the secure doctrine, according to the teaching transmitted, so that it is able to exhort with its sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.

Salmi 24(23),1-2.3-4ab.5-6.
Of the Lord is the earth and what it contains,
the universe and its inhabitants.
It is he who founded it on the seas,
and on the rivers he established it.

Who will ascend the mountain of the Lord,
who will stay in his holy place?
Who has innocent hands and pure heart,
who does not pronounce a lie.

He will get blessing from the Lord,
justice from God his salvation.
Here is the generation that seeks it,
who seeks your face, God of Jacob.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 17,1-6.
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: «Scandals are inevitable, but woe to him for whom they occur.
It is better for him that a millstone is placed around his neck and thrown into the sea, rather than scandalizing one of these little ones.
Be careful of yourself! If your brother sins, scold him; but if he repents, forgive him.
And if he sins seven times a day against you and seven times he says to you: I repent, you will forgive him ».
The apostles said to the Lord:
"Increase our faith!" The Lord replied: "If you had faith as much as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree: Be uprooted and transplanted into the sea, and it would listen to you."
