Gospel of 13 September 2018

First letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians 8,2-7.11-13-XNUMX.
Brothers, science swells, while charity builds. If anyone believes he knows something, he has not yet learned how to know.
Those who love God are known to him.
So as for eating the meat immolated to idols, we know that there is no idol in the world and that there is only one God.
And actually, even though there are so-called gods both in heaven and on earth, and in fact there are many gods and many lords,
for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom everything comes and we are for him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by virtue of whom all things exist and we exist for him.
But not everyone has this science; some, because of the custom they had until now with idols, eat meat as if they were really immolated to idols, and so their consciousness, weak as it is, remains contaminated.
And behold, for your science, the weak go broke, a brother for whom Christ died!
Thus sinning against the brothers and wounding their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
For this reason, if a food scandalizes my brother, I will never eat meat again, so as not to scandalize my brother.

Salmi 139(138),1-3.13-14ab.23-24.
Lord, you scrutinize me and you know me,
you know when I sit and when I get up.
Penetrate my thoughts from afar,
you look at me when I walk and when I rest.
All my ways are known to you.

You are the one who created my bowels
and you woven me into my mother's breast.
I praise you, because you made me like a prodigy;
wonderful are your works,

Look at me, God, and know my heart,
try me and know my thoughts:
see if I walk a path of lies
and guide me on the way of life.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 6,27-38.
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: "To you who listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
To whoever strikes you on the cheek, turn the other also; to those who take off your cloak, do not refuse the tunic.
It gives anyone who asks you; and to those who take yours, don't ask for it.
What you want men to do to you, do it to them too.
If you love those who love you, what merit will you have? Even sinners do the same.
And if you do good to those who do you good, what merit will you have? Even sinners do the same.
And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what merit will you have? Sinners also lend to sinners to receive equally.
Instead, love your enemies, do good and lend without hoping for anything, and your prize will be great and you will be children of the Most High; because he is benevolent towards the ungrateful and the wicked.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Do not judge and you will not be judged; do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven;
give and it will be given to you; a good measure, pressed, shaken and overflowing will be poured into your womb, because with the measure with which you measure, it will be measured to you in exchange ».
