Gospel of 14 October 2018

Book of Wisdom 7,7-11.
I prayed and prudence was given to me; I implored and the spirit of wisdom came to me.
I preferred it to scepters and thrones, I valued wealth compared to nothing;
I did not even compare it to an invaluable gem, because all the gold compared to it is a bit of sand and how silver will be valued in front of it.
I loved her more than health and beauty, I preferred her possession in the same light, because the splendor that emanates from it does not set.
All the goods came with it; in his hands it is an incalculable wealth.

Salmi 90(89),12-13.14-15.16-17.
Teach us to count our days
and we will come to the wisdom of the heart.
Turn, Lord; until?
Move with pity on your servants.

Fill us in the morning with your grace:
we will rejoice and rejoice for all our days.
Make us joy for the days of affliction,
for the years we have seen misfortune.

Let your work be revealed to your servants
and your glory to their children.
May the goodness of the Lord our God be upon us:
strengthen the work of our hands for us.

Letter to the Hebrews 4,12-13.
Brothers, the word of God is alive, effective and sharper than any double-edged sword; it penetrates to the point of division of the soul and spirit, joints and marrow and scrutinizes the feelings and thoughts of the heart.
There is no creature that can hide before him, but everything is naked and uncovered in his eyes and we must account for him.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 10,17-30.
At that time, while Jesus was leaving to go on a journey, a man ran to meet him and, throwing himself on his knees before him, asked him: "Good Master, what must I do to have eternal life?".
Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, if not God alone.
You know the commandments: Don't kill, don't commit adultery, don't steal, don't tell false testimony, don't defraud, honor your father and mother ».
He then said to him, "Master, I have observed all these things since my youth."
Then Jesus, staring at him, loved him and said to him: «One thing is missing: go, sell what you have and give it to the poor and you will have a treasure in heaven; then come and follow me ».
But he, saddened by those words, went away afflicted, because he had many goods.
Jesus, looking around, said to his disciples: "How hard those who have riches will enter the kingdom of God!".
The disciples were amazed at his words; but Jesus continued: «Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God!
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. "
Even more appalled, they said to each other: "And who can ever be saved?"
But Jesus, looking at them, said: «Impossible among men, but not with God! Because everything is possible with God ».
Peter then said to him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed you."
Jesus answered him, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields because of me and because of the gospel,
that he does not already receive a hundred times as much at present in houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and fields, together with persecutions, and in the future eternal life.
