First Reading
Perhaps I am pleased with the death of the wicked one, or not rather than desist from his conduct and live?
From the book of the prophet Ezekiel
Eze 18,21-28

Thus says the Lord God: "If the wicked one turns away from all the sins he has committed and observes all my laws and acts with justice and righteousness, he will live, he will not die. None of the faults committed will be remembered, but will live for the justice it has practiced. Perhaps I am pleased with the death of the wicked one - the oracle of the Lord - or not rather than desist from his conduct and live? But if the righteous moves away from justice and commits evil, imitating all the abominable actions that the wicked commits, will he be able to live? All the right works done by him will be forgotten; because of the abuse in which he has fallen and the sin he has committed, he will die. You say: The Lord's way of acting is not right. Listen therefore, house of Israel: Is my conduct not right, or is yours not right? If the righteous turns away from justice and commits evil and because of this he dies, he dies precisely because of the evil he has committed. And if the wicked turns from his wickedness which he has committed and accomplishes what is right and righteous, he makes himself live. He has reflected, has moved away from all the sins committed: he will certainly live and not die ».

God's word

Responsorial Psalm
From Ps 129 (130)
R. If you consider faults, Lord, who can resist you?
?Or:
Forgive us, Lord, and we will live.
From the depths to you I cry, O Lord;
Sir, listen to my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my plea. R.

If you consider the blame, Lord,
Lord, who can resist you?
But with you is forgiveness:
so we will have your fear. R.

I hope, sir.
Hope my soul,
I await your word.
My soul is turned to the Lord
more than sentries at dawn. R.

More than sentries at dawn,
Israel await the Lord,
because with the Lord is mercy
and redemption is great with him.
He will redeem Israel from all its faults. R.

Gospel
Go first to be reconciled with your brother.
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 5,20-26

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: «If your righteousness does not exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. You have heard that it was said to the ancients: You will not kill; whoever kills must be brought to trial. But I tell you: anyone who gets angry with his brother will have to be judged. Who then says to his brother: Stupid, must be subjected to the sinèdrio; and whoever says to him: Madman, will be destined for the fire of Geene. So if you present your offer at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, go first to be reconciled with your brother and then return to offer yours. gift. Quickly agree with your opponent while you are walking with him, so that the opponent does not surrender to the judge and the judge to the guard, and you are thrown into prison. In truth I tell you: you won't go out of there until you have paid up to the last penny! ».
