Gospel of August 16, 2018

Thursday of the XNUMXth week of Ordinary Time holidays

Book of Ezekiel 12,1-12.
This word of the Lord was told to me:
“Son of man, you live in the midst of a genie of rebels, who have eyes to see and do not see, have ears to hear and do not hear, because they are a genie of rebels.
You, son of man, make your baggage deported and, in the daytime before their eyes, prepare to emigrate; you will emigrate from the place where you are to another place, before their eyes: perhaps they will understand that I am a genie of rebels.
Prepare your baggage during the day, like the baggage of an exile, before their eyes; you will go out in front of them at sunset, as an exile would leave.
In their presence, make an opening in the wall and get out of there.
Put your luggage in their presence and go out into the darkness: you will cover your face so as not to see the country, because I have made you a symbol for the Israelites ".
I did as I was commanded: during the day I packed my baggage like the baggage of an exile and at sunset I made a hole in the wall with my hands, went out into the darkness and put the baggage on my shoulders under their eyes.
In the morning this word of the Lord was addressed to me:
Son of man, the people of Israel, that genie of rebels, did not ask you, what are you doing?
Answer them: Thus says the Lord God: This oracle is for the Prince of Jerusalem and for all the Israelites who live there.
You will say: I am a symbol for you; in fact what I have done to you will be done to them; they will be deported and enslaved.
The prince, who is among them, will load his baggage on his shoulders, in the dark, and will go out through the breach that will be made in the wall to make him leave; he will cover his face, so as not to see the country with his eyes. "

Salmi 78(77),56-57.58-59.61-62.
Degenerate children tempted the Lord,
they rebelled against God, the Most High,
they did not obey his commands.
Sviati, they betrayed him like their fathers,
they failed like a loose bow.

They provoked him with their heights
and with their idols they made him jealous.
God, upon hearing, was irritated by it
and severely rejected Israel.

He enslaved his strength,
his glory in the power of the enemy.
He gave his people prey to the sword
and against his inheritance he lit himself with anger.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 18,21-35.19,1.
At that time Peter approached Jesus and said to him: «Lord, how many times will I have to forgive my brother if he sins against me? Up to seven times? ».
And Jesus answered him: «I don't tell you up to seven, but up to seventy times seven.
By the way, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to deal with his servants.
After the accounts began, he was introduced to one who was indebted to ten thousand talents.
However, since he did not have the money to return, the master ordered that he be sold with his wife, children and what he owned, and thus to pay off the debt.
Then that servant, throwing himself to the ground, begged him: Lord, have patience with me and I will give you everything back.
Pitying the servant, the master let him go and forgave him the debt.
As soon as he left, that servant found another servant like him who owed him a hundred denarii and, grabbing him, choked him and said: Pay what you owe!
His companion, throwing himself to the ground, pleaded with him saying: Have patience with me and I will pay you back the debt.
But he refused to grant him, he went and had him thrown into prison until he paid the debt.
Seeing what was happening, the other servants were grieved and went to report their incident to their master.
Then the master called that man and said to him, "I am an evil servant, I have forgiven you for all the debt because you prayed to me."
Didn't you also have to have pity on your partner, just as I had pity on you?
And, indignant, the master gave it to the torturers until he returned all the due.
So also my heavenly Father will do to each of you, if you do not forgive your brother from the heart ».
After these speeches, Jesus left Galilee and went to the territory of Judea, beyond the Jordan.
