My heart says of you: "Seek his face."
I seek your face, O Lord.

free your people, Lord,
from all his anxieties. (Ps 24,6.3.22)

Collection
O Father, you call us
to listen to your beloved Son,
nourish our faith with your word
and purify the eyes of our spirit,
because we can enjoy the vision of your glory.
For our Lord Jesus Christ ...

?Or:

Great and faithful God,
that you reveal your face to those who seek you with a sincere heart,
strengthen our faith in the mystery of the cross
and give us a docile heart,
because in loving adherence to your will
let us follow Christ your Son as disciples.
He is God and lives and reigns ...

First Reading
God makes the covenant with faithful Abram.
From the book of Gènesi
Jan 15,5-12.17-18

In those days, God led Abram out and said to him, "Look to the sky and count the stars, if you can count them," and added, "Such will your descendants be." He believed the Lord, who credited him as justice.

And he said to him, "I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land." He replied, "Lord God, how will I know that I will have possession of it?" He said to him, "Take me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtle dove and a dove."

He went to get all these animals, divided them in two and placed each half in front of the other; however, he did not divide the birds. The birds of prey descended on those corpses, but Abram drove them away.

As the sun was about to set, a slumber fell on Abram, and terror and great darkness assailed him.

When, after setting the sun, it had become dark, here is a steaming brazier and a burning torch pass among the divided animals. On that day the Lord concluded this covenant with Abram:
«To your offspring
I give this earth,
from the river of Egypt
to the great river, the Euphrates River ».

God's word

Responsorial Psalm
from Psalm 26 (27)
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.
The Lord is my light and my salvation:
Who will I be afraid of?
The Lord is defense of my life:
who will I be afraid of? R.

Listen, Lord, to my voice.
I cry: have mercy on me, answer me!
My heart repeats your invitation:
"Look for my face!"
Your face, Lord, I seek. R.

Don't hide your face from me,
do not anger your servant.
You are my help, don't leave me,
do not abandon me, God of my salvation. R.

I am sure I contemplate the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Hope in the Lord, be strong,
strengthen your heart and hope in the Lord. R.

Second reading
Christ will transfigure us into his glorious body.
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Philippites
Phil 3,17 - 4,1

Brothers, make yourselves my imitators and look at those who behave according to the example you have in us. Because many - I have already told you several times and now, with tears in my eyes, I repeat it to you - behave like enemies of the cross of Christ. Their final fate will be perdition, the belly is their god. They boast of what they should be ashamed of and think only of the things of the earth.

In fact, our citizenship is in the heavens and from there we await the Lord Jesus Christ as savior, who will transfigure our miserable body to conform it to his glorious body, by virtue of the power that he has to subject all things to himself.

Therefore, my dear and much desired brothers, my joy and my crown, remain firm in the Lord in this way, dear ones!

Short form
Christ will transfigure us into his glorious body.
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Philippites
Phil 3,20 - 4,1

Brothers, our citizenship is in the heavens and from there we await the Lord Jesus Christ as savior, who will transfigure our miserable body to conform it to his glorious body, by virtue of the power he has of submitting all things to himself.

Therefore, my dear and much desired brothers, my joy and my crown, remain firm in the Lord in this way, dear ones!

God's word
Gospel acclamation
Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!

From the luminous cloud, the voice of the Father was heard:
«This is my beloved Son: listen to him!».

Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!

Gospel
As Jesus prayed, his face changed in appearance.
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lk 9,28b-36

At that time, Jesus took Peter, John and James with him and went up to the mountain to pray. As he prayed, his face changed in appearance and his garment became white and dazzling. And behold, two men conversed with him: they were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory, and spoke of his exodus, which was about to take place in Jerusalem.

Peter and his companions were oppressed by sleep; but when they awoke they saw his glory and the two men who were with him.

As they separated from him, Peter said to Jesus: «Master, it is nice for us to be here. We make three huts, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah ». He did not know what he was saying.

As he spoke thus, a cloud came and covered them with his shadow. Upon entering the cloud, they were afraid. And from the cloud a voice came out, saying: «This is my Son, the chosen one; Listen to him. "

As soon as the voice ceased, Jesus remained alone. They were silent and in those days did not report to anyone what they had seen.
