Gospel of 17 September 2018

First letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians 11,17-26.33.
Brothers, I cannot praise you for the fact that your meetings are not held for the best, but for the worst.
First of all I hear it said that when you gather in assembly there are divisions among you, and I partly believe it.
Indeed, it is necessary for divisions to take place, for those who are the true believers among you to manifest.
So when you gather together, yours is no longer eating the Lord's supper.
In fact, each one, when attending dinner, takes his meal first and thus one is hungry, the other is drunk.
Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What can I tell you? Shall I praise? In this I do not praise you!
Indeed, I received from the Lord what I in turn transmitted to you: the Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread
and after giving thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; Do this in memory of me".
In the same way, after having dinner, he also took the cup, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, every time you drink it, in memory of me. "
For whenever you eat of this bread and drink of this cup, you announce the death of the Lord until he comes.
Therefore, my brothers, when you gather for dinner, expect each other.

Salmi 40(39),7-8a.8b-9.10.17.
Sacrifice and offering you do not like,
the open ear.
You have not asked burnt offering and sacrifice for sin.
Then I said, "Here, I am coming."

On the scroll of the book it stands written,
to do your will.
My God, I delight
your law is deep in my heart. "

I have announced your justice
in the big assembly;
See, I don't keep my lips closed,
Lord, thou knowest.

Rejoice and rejoice in you
those who seek you,
always say: "The Lord is great"
those who crave your salvation.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 7,1-10.
At that time, when Jesus had finished addressing all these words to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum.
A centurion's servant was sick and was about to die. The centurion had cherished it.
Therefore, having heard of Jesus, he sent some elders of the Jews to pray to him to come and save his servant.
Those who came to Jesus prayed to him insistently: "He deserves you to do him this grace, they said,
for he loves our nation, and he built us a synagogue. "
Jesus went with them. It was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof;
for this reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you, but command with a word and my servant will be healed.
For I too am a man under authority, and I have soldiers under me; and I say to one: Go and he goes, and to another: Come, and he comes, and to my servant: Do this, and he does it. "
On hearing this, Jesus was admired and, addressing the crowd that followed him, he said: "I tell you that even in Israel I have not found such great faith!".
And the envoys, when they returned home, found the servant healed.
