Gospel of 18 September 2018

First letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians 12,12-14.27-31a.
Brothers, as the body, although one, has many members and all the members, although many, are one body, so too Christ.
And in reality we have all been baptized in one Spirit to form one body, Jews or Greeks, slaves or free; and we all drank from one Spirit.
Now the body is not of a single member, but of many members.
Now you are the body of Christ and his members, each for his part.
Therefore some God placed them in the Church firstly as apostles, secondly as prophets, thirdly as teachers; then come miracles, then the gifts of healing, gifts of assistance, of governing, of tongues.
Are they all apostles? All prophets? All masters? All miracle workers?
Does everyone have gifts to heal? Does everyone speak languages? Does everyone interpret them?
Aspire to greater charisms!

Psalms 100 (99), 2.3.4.5.
Acclaim the Lord, all of you on earth,
serve the Lord in joy,
introduce yourself to him with exultation.

Recognize that the Lord is God;
he made us and we are his,
his people and flock of his pasture.

Go through its doors with hymns of grace,
his atria with songs of praise,
praise him, bless his name.

Good is the Lord,
eternal his mercy,
his loyalty for each generation.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 7,11-17.
At that time, Jesus went to a city called Nain and his disciples and large crowds made their way.
When he was near the city gate, a dead man, the only son of a widowed mother, was brought to the tomb; and many people in the city were with her.
Seeing her, the Lord took pity on her and said, "Don't cry!"
And approaching he touched the coffin, while the porters stopped. Then he said, "Boy, I say to you, get up!"
The dead man sat up and started talking. And he gave it to the mother.
Everyone was filled with fear and glorified God by saying: "A great prophet arose between us and God visited his people."
The fame of these facts spread throughout Judea and throughout the region.
