Gospel of 2 October 2018

Book of Exodus 23,20-23.
Thus says the Lord: «Behold, I am sending an angel before you to guard you on the way and to make you enter the place I have prepared.
Have respect for his presence, listen to his voice and do not rebel against him; for he would not forgive your transgression, because my name is in him.
If you listen to his voice and do what I tell you, I will be the enemy of your enemies and the opponent of your opponents.
When my angel walks to your head and makes you enter the promised land ».

Salmi 91(90),1-2.3-4.5-6.10-11.
You who live in the shelter of the Most High
and dwell in the shadow of the Almighty,
tell the Lord: “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust ”.

He will free you from the hunter's snare,
from the plague that destroys.
He will cover you with his pens
under its wings you will find refuge.

His loyalty will be your shield and armor;
you will not fear the terrors of the night
nor the arrow that flies during the day,
the plague that wanders in darkness,
the extermination that devastates at noon.

The misfortune cannot strike you,
no blow will fall on your tent.
He will order his angels
to guard you in all your steps.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 18,1-5.10.
At that time, the disciples approached Jesus saying: "Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?".
Then Jesus called a child to himself, placed him among them and said:
«Truly I say to you: if you do not convert and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore whoever becomes small like this child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And anyone who welcomes even one of these children in my name welcomes me.
Be careful not to despise one of these little ones, because I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven ».
