Gospel of 20 September 2018

First letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians 15,1-11.
Brothers, I make known to you the gospel which I have announced to you and which you have received, in which you remain steadfast,
and from which you also receive salvation, if you keep it in the form in which I announced it to you. Otherwise, you would have believed in vain!
I therefore sent you, first of all, what I also received: that is, Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
he was buried and rose on the third day according to the scriptures,
and who appeared to Cephas and therefore to the Twelve.
He later appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time: most of them still live, while some died.
It also appeared to James, and therefore to all the apostles.
Last of all it also appeared to me as an abortion.
For I am the least of the apostles, and I am not even worthy of being called an apostle, because I have persecuted the Church of God.
By the grace of God, however, I am what I am, and his grace in me has not been in vain; indeed I have struggled more than all of them, not me, however, but the grace of God who is with me.
Therefore, both I and they, so we preach and so you believed.

Salmi 118(117),1-2.16ab-17.28.
Celebrate the Lord, because he is good;
because his mercy is eternal.
Tell Israel that he is good:
eternal is his mercy.

The right hand of the Lord has risen,
the right hand of the Lord has done wonders.
I won't die, I'll stay alive
and I will announce the works of the Lord.

You are my God and I thank you,
you are my God and I exalt you.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 7,36-50.
At that time, one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to eat with him. He entered the Pharisee's house and sat down to the table.
And behold a woman, a sinner of that city, knowing that she was in the Pharisee's house, came with a jar of perfumed oil;
and stopping behind she curled up crying at his feet and began to wet them with tears, then dried them with her hair, kissed them and sprinkled them with perfumed oil.
At that sight the Pharisee who had invited him thought to himself. "If he were a prophet, he would know who and what kind of woman is the one who touches him: she is a sinner."
Then Jesus said to him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." And he said, "Master, go ahead."
«A creditor had two debtors: one owed him five hundred denarii, the other fifty.
Not having them to repay, he forgave the debt to both of them. So who of them will love him more? '
Simone replied: "I suppose the one you have forgiven most". Jesus said to him, "You have judged well."
And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house and you did not give me water for my feet; instead she wet my feet with tears and dried them with her hair.
You didn't give me a kiss, but she hasn't stopped kissing my feet since I entered.
You didn't sprinkle my head with perfumed oil, but she smeared my feet with perfume.
This is why I tell you: her many sins are forgiven, because she loved very much. Instead, the one who is forgiven little, loves little ».
Then he said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
Then the diners began to say to themselves: "Who is this man who also forgives sins?".
But he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace! ».
