Gospel of January 23, 2019

Letter to the Hebrews 7,1-3.15-17.
Brothers, Melchìsedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, went to meet Abraham as he returned from the defeat of the kings and blessed him;
Abraham gave him the tithe of everything; first of all his translated name means king of justice; he is also king of Salem, that is, king of peace.
He is fatherless, motherless, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, made like the Son of God and remains a priest forever.
This is even more evident since, in the resemblance of Melchìsedek, another priest arises,
which has not become such for the reason of a carnal prescription, but for the power of an unfailing life.
In fact, this testimony is given to him: "You are a priest for ever in the manner of Melchìsedek".

Psalms 110 (109), 1.2.3.4.
Oracle of the Lord to my Lord:
"Sit on my right,
as long as I lay your enemies
to stool of your feet ».

The scepter of your power
stretches out the Lord from Zion:
«Dominate among your enemies.

To you the principality on the day of your power
between holy splendors;
from the breast of the dawn,
like dew, I begot you. »

The Lord has sworn
and do not regret:
«You are a priest forever
in the manner of Melchizedek ».

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 3,1-6.
At that time, Jesus entered the synagogue again. There was a man who had a dry hand,
and they watched him to see if he healed him on Saturday and then accused him.
He said to the man who had a withered hand: "Get in the middle!"
Then he asked them, "Is it lawful on Saturday to do good or evil, save a life or take it away?"
But they were silent. And looking around them with indignation, saddened by the hardness of their hearts, he said to that man: "Stretch out your hand!" He stretched it out and his hand was healed.
And the Pharisees immediately went out with the Herodians and took counsel against him to make him die.
